Our prototype worked and didn’t work. The reason I say that is because, our prototype does fill air into the lungs, but not a lot of air. One of the problems we had was that, our balloons (for the lungs), kept getting teared and we had to replace our balloons 5 times. One of the hardest problems we faced was when we were trying to put the plastic tube through the coupling. We didn’t really need a coupling (that is why it is not mentioned in the procedure), however, we believe it helps make the Artificial Lung better. Also, it was hard to stretch the balloon to cover the bottom of the bottle and we had to put the bottom of the bottle that we cut off, inside the bottle to give it support so it says in shape, which was also another extra step we added. Finally, the last problem we had was trying to tape the plastic tubing into one of the hose connectors. It sounds like its an easy job, but its not. Therefore, our prototype does work and doesn’t work at the same time, but it does represent how an actual artificial lung would’ve worked like.
